We wanted to share with you some changes with regard to Space Network Scotland.  As you may know, Space Network Scotland (SNS) was created in 2014 as part of the activities of Scottish Enterprise’s Space Network Integrator project.   Since then SNS has worked with companies, research institutions and space agencies to assist in growing/developing space activity in Scotland.  The Space Network Integrator project concludes at the end of this September.  From a Scottish Enterprise perspective this marks the end of the forming process for the space industry in Scotland.  Following on, we’d like to introduce you to the Scottish Space Leadership Council, a community of...

News: Orbex in process of Site Selection Orbex (@orbexspace) announced on twitter earlier this month that they are in the process of looking for a “large new launch vehicle production facility & mission control centre close to our consortium’s primary launch site in Scotland”.   Just in case you missed it, Orbex secured £30 million funding in July to develop their orbital space launch system. News: UK Space Launch Congratulations to Highland and Islands Enterprise and associated consortium for securing funding for a vertical spaceport at A’mhoine in Sutherland.   As well as providing a new route to space for small satellite builders such as Spire Global, Clyde Space and Alba Orbital, it also increases the profile of space in Scotland!. Space Network Scotland and the Satellite Finance Network (SFN) jointly hosted a Space Investment Showcase on 29 November at the Scotland House - the impressive new Innovation and Investment Hub on the Embankment in London. SFN, led by Joanne Wheeler, have held a number of similar events over the last few years so establishing an impressive network of space interested investors. They also provided excellent support to the individual companies that are involved in the selection process. Earlier this year we invited the Network to fill in a Questionnaire on what they are looking for with regards collective organisational support.  This was then followed up with a meeting attended by respondents.   Thanks to all of you who responded, attended and provided inciteful comments. The overall conclusions from the questionnaire were that: Most interest in support came from respondents who see themselves entirely or largely as space organisations. The priority interests of the sector are representation to government, marketing of the sector and networking events.
